My first tries

These are some before and after pictures of my first 3 repair jobs. The Kissing Krane was already in pieces when my father-inlaw gave it too me. I ask around for 2 or 3 years trying to find someone to put it back together and finally decided to just do it myself!
That's when I found this place....

I don't care for brass bolsters, so those were replaced with n/s ones and the wood replaced with elk. It's my EDC.

About 3 weeks. I wouldn't call myself a knife mechanic...just somebody that can't stand to see something wasting away!

Well my friend, I wish I could have made that sort of progress in just 3 weeks!

You must be a young man, 'cause us old guys can't keep up that pace, (too many trips to the bathroom).

I've made several fixed blades over the last 25 years or so. My Grandpa used to make and sell butcher knives when I was a child. I used to watch him work for hours in his little shop. He had few power tools, so I was taught to make due with what I had. He cut out the blades with a chisel and punched his handle holes out with a punch. I probably made my first functional knife before I was 10.
I don't want to mislead anybody. Although I may have never worked on any pocket knives...I've done this sort of stuff all my life.

That is some awesome work. Where is the best place to buy nickel silver bar stock for bolster material. Your bolsters look great and I'd like to try to make some for one of my projects. Thanks

I usually use the sheets for making bolsters.

K & G has pretty good prices on their sheet nickel silver:
