Hey Ricky or any of you gun experts***___I bought this older, Model 5904 S&W,9mm, at the gun show, last Saturday and just got to the range today*** Wow !!! what a difference from, my model #19, 357 Revolver   ____ my first experience, with an auto***buTTTTT !!!!!!! another auto,is now in my future ::nod:: ____and now for the ""dumb question"" of the day ::paranoid::

If you load the clip, with 14 rounds, and ""leave it loaded"" for a period of time--seems it would ""weaken the spring""????? ::shrug:: ____I plan to use one of my pistols,as a "companion",in my travels (not on person carry)____ the model #19,has been in my night stand drawer, for 30 years___can you load the clip, and put in a drawer for ""thirty years"' and expect it to shoot, when needed ???? ::hmm::

ALWAYS change out the clip on January 1 and also on July 4th. Unload the one that has been 'on duty' and let it rest for 6 months. :D 8) ::tu::

Big Monk, You picked a WINNER!
I test fired one of those a while back. My wife has one on her want list too.
She loves the laser - takes the worry out of all that troublesome "aiming stuff". ::ds::

When you get looking for ammo - Speer Gold Dot, 124g +P bullets are DA BEST for a short barreled pistol.

Can't go wrong with Ruger. I have a .45 LC Blackhawk single action, a .22 Mark II and arguably the best .22 rifle of all times, a 10/22. Mine is heavily modified.

Here's my Colt Government .45 ACP displaying a Colt/Case mini-trapper & Zippo lighter and a Colt/Case 6254 trapper with wooden 1911 box. I have the original walnut grips but picked up some faux ivory and pearl to add a little bling. I added a 10 round mag and love taking this pistol to the range. ::nod::

Well___________ I told a few guys at work, about my new pistol purchase last week :) __get an e-mail,from a co-worker/ buddy ,that I should have let him know,I was looking for a pistol ::shrug:: seems he has a ""nice one"" he wants to sell ?? __ I say oh yeh?? what ya' got,and what kind of ""bargain"" ya' gona' give me ???? ::skeptic:: after a little haggling and bartering,I ended up,with this Springfield XD40 auto. (for a bargain basement price !!!) It's a 40 caliper,12+1 shot, with carry case, extra clip, double clip carrier, holster, and cleaning rod***** He had only, fired two (12 round clips) through the gun, (he gave me the other 26 bullets & spent cases )___said,he liked his 45 cal. better :) ____ with four easy flicks of the fingers (no tools),you can break this baby down, into four pieces, clean & oil,and re-assemble_____in 5 minutes !!!!!!___ amazing**,simply amazing,**** to an ""old cogger"",that had never owned an auto.,till two weeks ago ::uc::

Hey Monk, does that thing have a manual safety, or is it like my Glock with built in safties and no manual. I notice that it has the trigger pull safety like the Glock.

The safety is on the back of the grip__(no manual)___when you grip, the handle in the ""ready to fire position"" it pushes off, the safety____you also have ,the trigger safety__guy told me,this gun is a ""modified "Glock"" copy or look a like **** with a few add ons ???____We are headed to the range today !!!!

Phil___trigger pull is sorta long, and the reviews, say the same about the Ruger LC9____but I really don't know the difference, since I just got into the game ::shrug:: I'll be shooting both today, maybe know more, this afternoon ??? :)

I was thinking it looked "Glock-ish". I would still rather have a manual safety. I really like the Glock, but a lot of people, including cops, have shot themselves accidentally with the Glock. Here's mine. It has a trigger block installed all the time to avoid mis-haps. It's spring-loaded and will pop out as you move your finger to the trigger.

That’s why all my hand guns have an exposed hammer. ::nod:: .. except for my 4 barrel derringer. The trigger pull on it is made so that you could never fire it accidentally. :)
This is just my preference.....I know a lot of Folks like them. :|

Just got back, from the shooting range___wow !!!! never thought, my wife,my son,and I, would spend a day, sharing ""quality time"" on the shooting range, but it sure happened !!!! ::ds:: We had a ball, teaching my wife (who had never shot a pistol) to shoot the Ruger LC9LM (first gun on left)__that little gun,has a Lazer Site, and she hit the targets, each time she shot !!!!!! I was impressed !!!!__I only loaded, one shot at a time, for her to start with__but finally got her to shoot (3 rounds ) and she still put all three,in the 9in. target @ 30 feet __ she does not like the noise, but didn't mind shooting a few rounds !!!! ( we all agreed, the small pistol, was the loudest ?? ::shrug:: ) My son and I, on the other hand, were not to accurate, with the smaller pistol (really need something to hang onto)____the middle pistol (Springfield XD 40cal. is one sweet shooting machine !!!!!!) at 30 ft. I could cover the 9inch target, with all 12 shots (lose an ocassional one, trying to shoot a little faster ***)__my son, wants to swap me,his Taurus 45cal. for this one (but it ain't gona' happin' ::skeptic:: )_____and the Smith & Wesson 5904,9mm. just gets easier and easier,to put em' in the paint, the more I shoot it !!!! ::ds:: It's going to be my favorite, for now ::nod:: ___I enjoyed shooting my sons,45cal. Taurus, but it shoots a foot low ??? I think,it has some kind of sight, adjustment ?? but neither of us,know enough about them,to move the sights __I, told him to take it to the shop, where he bought it,before making the wrong adjustment. Had a great day, with the family,on the range_when we left the range,we came back home, driving dirt roads, through Sumter National Forrest___no houses,or people, just 20 miles of woods & creeks**very peaceful & quiet !!!!!__gotta' get back on the lake, and save up my money,to buy more knives** and ammo___have a great day guys !!!!______________Monk ::tu::
