As far as the razor knife shown earlier I believe the design was originally intended for people with only one arm .....

Here is an excerpt for the Articles & Research section here @ AAPK :

" This pattern is a two bladed 3 3/4" barlow style jack knife. They are often known as a one arm man or one armed bandit knives. Most recent 05 patterns usually have a razor master blade, but in the past, they have also been manufactured with clip or spear master blades. The second blade is always a pen blade as far as I know. When the knife has a razor style blade, it most often takes on the name one arm man. This name was given to the knife because the design of the blade has a tip that sticks out. This allows for the knife to be opened with one hand by snagging the point on a pant leg or other object. When this pattern has this style of blade, the pattern number (when there is one) is normally followed by an R, or RAZ. When the knife has a clip master blade, the pattern number may be followed with a 1/2. The 05 patterns were introduced prior to 1940. Starting sometime before 1965, the knife was only manufactured with a razor blade. The pattern was discontinued for a while starting in the late 70's. Since that time, a few have been made. "

While the above info is intended for barlow style knives I will assume the same holds true for a single bladed razor knife as well.

Very nice knife Joe. As an observation, while searching out knives on Ebay, I'm seeing more and more knives with a nick in the blade just as in your pen blade. They seem to be very precisely made and not an accidental chip. Reckon someone put it there for wire stripping or some such job??

Hi Tom,
I don't think it was purposely done. I think someone was trying to lift or pry something and poped the blade.
Too bad, however it has made the knife more affordable and easier for me to own an Empire from nearby Winstead, Ct. It was done long ago as was the rusting and pitting. The little knife still has good action.

On the paperwork in the picture it says, "Hand Inlaid in Montana." I think I can barely make out U.S.A. on the tang stamp. That's about it so far. But for $22 I couldn't pass it up! I'll post more once it arrives.

Please do, i'd be interested to know more about it.

WB, all it says on the tang is Montana Silversmiths. No USA or any other markings on the knife or box. I hope to post some more pictures in Mail Call early next week. The buffalo shield is definitely sterling and pretty sweet.

Ok, thanks redrider! I guess we'd all like to think that a Montana Silversmith would have started with a good ol' American made knife as his pallet. At the price you paid, I think you got a killer deal on a very cool knife no matter what it's origins. Look forward to seein' more pics.

Picked up this lot at a yard sale yesterday. $12.50 a piece. One is unusual to me. Its a Graef & Schmidt Welkut Germany. The scales are really nice. I'll post a pick or two. Any ideas on dating or value???

While I was shooting today my brother picked me up an Olsen OK shinner from a pawnshop for $20.00 I've been wanting one for years.Olsen cared so much about protecting the Rosewood handles they put felt on the knife side of the snap the only thing I can't tell if it's CV or carbon steel

Geno;I love those two knives Oh ya along with the Olsen OK the guy threw in a steel warrior (POS),did a little research they CLAIM it is made in the same factory as Hen and Rooster.I don't know who they are tring to fool but with JUNK like that I don't think US knife manufactures have any worries.steel warrior with some kind of ninja on the shield and they claim the scales are bone WOW what a POS
