Great read, Dale!! .........surprises me the amount of concealed gun permits in Iowa & Utah.. ..
In AZ..I'm sure that number has dropped to half of that since its legal to carry concealed here...notice that poll was taken in 2009.

South Carolina,we can carry loaded, in vehicles (dash or console) without a permit,____ on person open carry ,if going to or from hunting or fishing (if you have a valid, hunting/fishing lisence )____concealed,we must take a CWP,training course ( fees vary,from $50-$100 ) and have a concealed weapons permit,from the state ($50)___ re-new every three(3) years**

I work at the Courthouse here in Alexandria so getting a concealed carry permit was pretty easy. $50 plus proof of competency and finger printing and you're pretty much on you way as long as your record is clean.

I conceal carry the little Kel-Tec P-11 9mm below rarely. The other firearms I have picked up over the years– a Ruger 10/22, Colt AR-15 Govt. Carbine, a Maverick 88 with home defense and scoped rifled slug barrels, a Ruger Mark II, a Glock 17, an Italian reproduction cap & ball revolver (my favorite to shoot but least favorite to clean), a Colt 1911 Govt. .45 and a Tech-9. My Dad and I have a few more handguns, rifles and shotguns but these are the ones I used when making my Top Shot audition movie. Didn't get picked but it was a fun project.

I think we have open carry in Oregon.
I don't have a handgun so I don't have a permit.

Humm.....maybe I can trade some custom knife work (or three) for a handgun.

I try to collect a little of this and a little of that, kind of like my knife collecting. I figure it's good to be prepared for any situation. Still need a long distance rifle and a high power handgun.

I've been saving this thread for when I needed a serious gun fix. I was sure--and was correct!--that Old Wullie would have some neat stuff. I had to laugh about some of the comments about trading knives for guns; I've had a couple of guys try to trade me knives for my Dan Wesson 44 recently. Maybe they read this thread?

One guy offered--I kid you not--a collection of more than 100 Victorinox Classic promotional knives! What would a guy do with that many baby Swiss army knives? The other guy offered some "collector-grade" knives of a brand I don't collect, and got real irate when I politely declined.

Much better than the factory grips; I figure they give me about a 10-15% improvement in control/accuracy. I'm trading the gun off, but just ordered a set for it's replacement and expect even greater improvements there with full-power loads.

Nice revolver!! .....is the 44 the only barrel that you have for it?
I had one many moons ago with 3 different barrels. ......Man,I wish that I had kept that one!!

do you mean different barrel assemblies? For those who aren't familiar with the DW design, the barrel consists of two (well, three) parts: a rifled tube that threads into the frame of the gun, and a "shroud" of sorts that goes on over the tube and looks like a traditional barrel. (The possible third part would be the barrel nut that holds the shroud in place.)

As a result of all this, the rifled tube is held in tension between the frame and the end of the shroud. Dan Wessons are known for their accuracy, and it is generally regarded by most that this is due to the way the barrel is put together.

But back to Johnnie's question. At one point I had accumulated three barrel assemblies--all the same. I kept the one that was most accurate with my loads etc. I traded the other two off last week, and hope to have a new home for the pistol soon. I picked up a different pistol that better-suits what I'm wanting from a big-bore handgun now.

Looks like a 15-2, with 2 1/2", 4", and 6" heavy barrel assemblies. One of the things (minus the 6" barrel assembly) that I've been trying to trade for . . . only I don't want one in that nice of condition! I'd almost be afraid to shoot that one, let alone shoot 400-500 rounds a week like I do with my current .357.

Maybe someday . . .

Naw, I used to shoot a lot. Now I'm just trying to get back to some routine after about 18 months with no shooting while I got over some injuries. If at the end of the year I've averaged 250 rounds/week (handguns and rifles), I'll be happy. YTD is only about 125 . . . I better get to work!
