Very interesting. That newest design in intriguing.

You mentioned aliens, & it got me to thinking, if the bottom of the blades were on a pivot so that the blade striking trips a mechanism that causes the back of the opposing blade to strike the back of the striking blade just a fraction of a second after it hits initially it would be like a second blow, a force multiplier if you will.
It would add a second blow while the object struck is still vibrating from the first blow, causing more damage than a single blow.

Anyway the idea was strange (alien) enough that it flashed through my somewhat alien (strange) mind. ::woot::
Wait, I think I have a simple solution to this; a sliding weight on a bar between the tops of the two blades, (though you may have to redesign them a bit so there is more travel for the weight). Centrifugal force from the swing would take the weight to the non-striking blade side and the deceleration from the blow would bring the weight down on the back of the striking blade adding a second smaller blow a split second later.

Humm….. ::hmm::

Interesting designs. Keep making them.
I am not sure what the market would be if you decided to sell some, but I have seen custom axes and tomahawks at knife shows. The ones I have seen seem to sell well, should you ever decide to go that route. Make lots of them, as I find the more times I repeat a process in knife making the better I get at it and the better results I get in a shorter amount of time.

Nice work! ::tu::
