Johnnie, that Pal is the same knife my father was issued in the Pacific in WWII. He carried it through the Pacific campaign.

A few years back somebody broke into my house and got in my safe, which I had mistakenly left unlocked (didn't spin the dial) two days before.

They stole some very expensive handguns and some knives--that Pal was one of them.

I caught the rascals myself two days later when I found my camera at a pawnshop. Well, the coppers got 'em--I found out who they were from the pawn ticket. I never did recover four of the handguns (including two Colt SAAs) but I got that Pal back, which I wanted to recover as much as anything that was taken.

Yeah, and I followed the Sheriffs deputies and saw them stuffing the little rats in a car.

Dad gave me the Nambu a couple of years ago. He found it in a cave on Luzon, still packed in Cosmoline. I'm not sure it was ever issued before he found it. He sent it home in the US mail from Manila!

He shot it some in the war, and he gave me some shells he got somewhere 20 years ago or so. I haven't shot it. I might at some point but I'll get shells somewhere else. Not real wild about shooting what might be reloads from someone I don't know.

Before he got on the ship to come home, he sold the Colt civilian 1911 .45 his mother sent him (US mail again). They were being warned to not try to bring any weapons back, that there would be severe consequences. He didn't want to, but he sold it on the cheap to a buddy of his.

He said from the time he got on the ship, to the time the train brought him into Atlanta, nobody gave anything he had a second glance, and that he could have snuck back a Howitzer if he'd wanted to! I sure wish he'd brought that Colt back!

That Colt sure would have looked nice in a display case along side the Nambu & PAL.knife..

Cool. My great uncle said he had both models of Luger he took off of Germans and on the way back on a ship some of the Lieutenants that hadn't even been in the war decided to do a shake down. He said they were just trying to get good stuff for themselves so when one of them told him to hand them over he said " You want'em you go get'em" and threw them over the side of the ship. He should have just mailed them home beforehand. My other uncle mailed a Japanese rifle home from the Pacific. Of course he traded that for Christmas presents for the family a few years after the war when he was short of money. Oh well.

Thanks Johnnie. Bought this from James Parker. Reportedly this is a super rare 1994 issue of the Schatt & Morgan 4th series from Queen Cutlery Co.. It's in mint condition with Peachseed Jigged bone scales. The bolsters are dimpled and fluted and made of N.S.
On the front master spey blade the tang reads with the"S&M" logo and Titusville,Pa. Rear tang stamped Queen "capital Q" steel U.S.A. 94. Etched with "S&M Trademark"on small spear and sheepfoot blades. Small spear blade is etched with pattern#"043 221" and stamped with "Schatt & Morgan" as well.This is my first S&M and I'm very Intrested in collecting more. Since being on AAPK, I also have a few GECs in the works which have unbelieveable quality in workmanship and materials.
