Dentist from Hell.......
I remember back in the 60's dentisry was crude.I remember,as a few others my age have reminded me of,the dentist resharpening the hypo needle with a sharpening stone, then syphoning up and squirting out the same disinfectiong solution used by countless other patients, then injecting me with novacaine.
Ive had a few scattered emergency procedure since but untill recently have not had a dental procedure in 13 years.Enter the new tool"Google",something I regret not useing 'till after my last visit a few months ago.Constant complaining, sticking me through the lip with the needle, leaving me in the chair for over an hour and reinjecting me again, answering cellphone calls, overcharging me $500(associated endodontist not on my plan)and a referrel to another for a root canal, this guys equipptment was grungy,he stuck me through my tongue, the list goes on.A friend said he googled the dentist he went to after the fact and came up with some of the same things I did. Will leave her name out but here goes........
perhaps the worst health care professional i have ever encountered. spent more time trying to "pump up" the bill and not enough time addressing real problems. i never waited less that 45 minutes to be seen. she is incredibly...INCREDIBLY arrogant. so happy to be out of that office. is she knowledgeable? who knows. perhaps but it is difficult to get around all the other stuff.
I never have been treated so badly by a so called professional. Absolutely the worst dentist..she is extremely pushy and insensitive, wants to force you to get unnecessary treatments and because I declined, she dropped me as her patient and left me with an unfinished temporary crown. Staff is nice but don't be fooled. Please..do not go to this woman, she will just make you waste your time and money. Considering filing a complaint on her
Absolutely awful dentist. Her hygienists and receptionists are AWESOME, and for their sake I hope she's nicer to them than her patients, but she's just miserable, nasty and pushy. Within 3 min of meeting her she was pushing unnecessary cosmetic procedures on me and eventually got around to discussing the extras like filling cavities! Really, like I'm going to trust what she says I need to do. She was nasty to my husband when she was causing him pain and tried to blame it on him. the office was nice and her employees were terrific, but that's about the only positive thing I can say.
So my bottom line is,if you plan on going to what I THOUGHT was gonna be the new modern, painless dentist,do your'e homework,as I SHOULD HAVE and now regret not doing

Re: Dentist from Hell.......
I love my dentist at the VA! There is only one tiny problem, he is at the............................VA!
He pulled my teeth and made me beautiful dentures. I only took a couple years.
The uppers fit great, no problemo!
The lowers won't stay in, no matter what I use to glue them in place.
So he said they could put in implants in my lower jaw to anchor the lower dentures to.
I waited one year for the appointment then called. It turns out I was suppose have requested it and I wasted a year waiting for them to call me.
So now I have been approved for the implants & I am on the implant waiting list.
I asked my fabulous dentist (he really is a wonderful dentist), "How long is the waiting list for an implant?"
He raised an eyebrow, so I asked "One year?"
"Not that soon I am afraid," he said.
"Two years?" I asked.
"Well, probably not....." he replied.
My voice went up a couple octaves, "Three years?" I asked incredulously.
"I really can't say" he said, "Perhaps there will be a cancellation" he murmured hopefully.
So I have beautiful dentures, the lower half of which will not stay in place even if I am just talking.
The uppers look nice & I wear them in public, but I have to take them out to eat.
Eating with only half of your dentures is like clapping with one hand......
I hope Obamacare doesn’t go past the Supreme Court, because the VA is one of the things they looked at as a model for Obamacare.
What a private sector dentist could do in 5 to 7 months the VA can stretch out to 7 to 10 years!
After 4 years of gumming my food, I am still waiting for the call for implants!
I can only HOPE that CHANGEs!

Re: Dentist from Hell.......
My Great uncle who suffered rather serious injuries when the captain of his ship fired the main guns before sounding the Klaxon and waiting for his men to clear the deck( a 15in gun has a bit of concussion) used to go to the VA hospital in Virginia. They gave him a clean bill of health and sent him home one day. Three days later he wasn't feeling well so he went to a regular hospital who rushed him in for emergency heart surgery. They said another couple days and he would have died. They couldn't believe any doctor wouldn't have noticed his heart was in that bad of shape after having just done a stress test for his heart at the VA. The VA are more than happy to let veterans die off before giving them the treatment they deserve. Heck when I was in the Army the Army news paper in Germany did a story about all the doctors we had on the staff at the hospitals there that had been BANNED FOR MALPRACTICE in at least one state before the US military took them on. Really really scary.
I measure my collection by the ton.

Re: Dentist from Hell.......
My dentist at the VA really is a very good dentist, the problem is the bureaucratic system.
Their funds are dispensed quarterly, so 2 months into a quarter they are out of funds.
If they have molds for dentures to be made by the second month of the quarter they have to hold then until they get their next quarters funds so they can send them to the lab to be made.
At least that was the explanation the dentist gave me.
The bureaucracy makes the process more expensive and less efficient.
Sad thing really.

Re: Dentist from Hell.......
Years ago when I was still in my teens I went to the local dentist for a routine visit. His office sat on the main drag through town but also cornered on an alley. There was a side door onto the alley in the exam room. While he was checking my teeth there was a knock at the door. The dentist went to the door and let in an older gentleman who was there to sell him some fishing worms (night crawlers) that he'd collected after a rain the night before.
Now ole Doc wasn't going to buy a pig in a poke so he sunk his hand down into the coffee can and brought out a huge wad of fat slimey worms which he rolled around in both hands before returning them to the can. He paid the guy for the worms, put them in the refrigerator over in the corner that held medical supplies and rinsed his hands off at the sink before returning to work on my teeth. THAT was my last visit to that dentist.

Implants are a crap shoot, may I suggest buying a pair of used plates off of eBay. Either way, be prepared for lots of pain medication. Stay away from VA unless you got alot of faith. Look for maxio-facial surgeon or high caliber oral surgeon that does MRI's first if you proceed with implants. Depending on your life span, health, pocket book; look for someone who knows about "Lingualized Occlusion" and HyroCast Dentures. Call Dental Labs in your area also, you will find them in the phone book.
They do the work and know good operators.......

I had an implant upper left tooth 2 years ago. Aside from the $3000 that my insurance would not cover, based on my experience, I would recommend an implanted tooth over a bridge any day.
