I just heard the news that "Goober" aka George Lindsey passed away today.

Rest in peace Mr. Lindsey and thanks for all the laughs.

Godspeed Goob.
I'll never forget when you took that car apart and put it back together in the courthouse.
It was a sight to behold.
Best of luck to you and yours...

I always liked ol' Goober, both on Mayberry RFD and on Hee Haw.
RIP, Goober.

George Lindsay was good people.

He supported The Special Olympics in Alabama for many years.

He sponsored a charity golf tournament in Montgomery for seventeen years to benefit Special Olympics.

He was born just up the road in Jasper, AL and graduated from what is now The University of North Alabama with a Bachelor in Science in 1952.

Not quite the bumbling character he played to perfection for over thirty years.

Indeed, RIP Goob.

Those old shows Lindsey played Goober in are far more fun (and decent) to watch even today than what has been offered for the past decade - RIP.
Deep in the guts of most men is buried the involuntary response to the hunter's horn, a prickle of the nape hairs, an acceleration of the pulse, an atavistic memory of his fathers, who killed first with stone, and then with club...Robert Ruark

"Judy, Judy, Judy Judy......." - Goober doing an impression at Gomer's urging. Classic. Proof that TV can be entertaining and have class.

Not meaning to hijack this homage to Goober, but Mayberry recently lost another one:
Doug Dillard, AKA Doug Darling recently passed:

Being the banjo player for The Darling Family Band aside, Doug Dillard was actually in his element as the banjo player for The Dillards, a great band made up of a group of studio musicians back in the 70's.

Fantastic music from The Dillards back in the day. They were awesome.

RIP, Doug.
