Weather Forecast

Post by Aimus Moses »

I had brown beans and cornbread with fried taters & garden green onions and sliced red maters today for supper. So I'd say there will be loud thunder boomers and high winds likely to be rolling in later on tonight. Y'all keep everything tied down now so's it don't blow away. ::super_happy::

Brown beans? Would that be pinto beans?

Growing up, there was hardly a day passed we didn't have pinto beans and fried taters for supper. Mmmm Mmmm good!!! Cornbread is just icing on the cake. I have an excellent recipe for cornbread (sweet but not too sweet cornbread. I suppose you could leave out the sugar and it would be regular old sour cornbread)

In my part of the country they are called red beans and they are dandy. I completely understand the weather prognostication. You are likely to sleep alone tonight.
(Where's the beef? ::groove:: ) There'll be some ham hock, salt pork or maybe a few slices of bacon in the beans and that'll work. ::tu::

Pinto beans they were Jerry.

Note to self: When you have bruised ribs and a pinched nerve in your back, DON'T EAT BROWN PINTO BEANS!! It hurts bookoo bad!

My wife and me were setting in the living room and I said "Those brown beans are killing me". My wife replied "YOU'RE TELLING ME????? I DON'T KNOW WHETHER TO STUFF THE COTTON IN MY EARS OR MY NOSE!!" Then she went on to say "IF MY DOG RUNS UNDER THIS COUCH 1 MORE TIME BECAUSE SHE THINKS YOU'RE SHOOTING AT HER, YOUR GOING UP STAIRS!"
That gave me a flash of an ideal so I said "Where's that dam cat at?"

::rotflol:: ::rotflol:: Oh Aimus.

If you're interested in neutralizing those beans, as soon as they come to a boil, drop a quarter teaspoon of baking soda in the pot (make sure it's not old). My mother's secret. Works every time. Not a toot in truck load.

Ray, red beans are different than pintos.

Jerry,
Not in my house. I have cooked and eaten 'em all my life. Common usage in West Texas.

Gottcha. It's a regional thing. I guess I didn't know that because I never had beans when I lived in West Texas. The mess hall didn't serve them. Probably had a good reason for that. ::tounge::

That was funny, especially your wife's comments.

Thanks for the chuckle...

I had to quit eating beans.
After I had about 1/4th of my colon removed I don't tolerate them anymore.
I ended up in the ER twice from too much pressure.

I have tried every anti-gas home remedy known to man as well as the things you can buy in the store.
None of them work for me, including baking soda.
I have gotten to the point I won't eat them no matter who good they taste.
I flat can't eat them; which sucks because I LOVE them!

When someone comes with a "new" cure, I politely decline, 'cause ain't no beans worth that much pain. ::dang:: ::dang:: ::dang:: ::dang::
