Really?! Well, that's pretty cool! I'd like to see one of them in action. Wylies 'round here'd hesitate, just because they wouldn't know what they was lookin' at. They'd be standin' back goin' what the...

Re: First cup!
Mornin' guys. By the way, if we have any ladies checking out this thread, good mornin' to them also. Actually, when I use 'guys' I mean it to cover both genders.
Haven't had my first yet as am getting ready to leave for a show in a nearby town. Pretty slow day at my table yesterday and Sundays are rarely better than Saturdays.
I'll get my first cup at the restaurant today.
Everyone have a great day,
Ray

Re: First cup!
On my first cup, Scott and so mad right now I could spit! Some lowlife snake in the grass run our lines last night and stole every hook/fish that we had out. Locals wouldn't do that, so it was most likely some outsider here on vacation. All I can say for 'em, is I hope they're proud of themselves. They just taught a 6 year old the darker side of human behavior.
One other thing they may not realize, is that I have few eyes and ears in these hills and this story may not be over with yet!!!!!!!

Oh, WB. Down where I came from, although not unheard of, that was a mortal sin. I hope you catch 'em.

Re: First cup!
Thanks guys, i've had another cup or two and calmed down...a little.
Fellers, I consider myself a fairly tolerant man. But, when I think of how my 6 year old grandson, (7 next month) went out and dug up the worms from the sawdust pile out back of the shop, fished his little heart out to catch the small fish to bait the lines and actually baited most of the lines himself. Well...it's enough to make ya wanna put a hurtin' on somebody!
I'll never know who did it and couldn't prove it even if I did suspect anyone in particular. By law, we do tag our lines, but they cut the hooks loose and left the tags. So, i'd have to be able to I.D. an unmarked hook.
Nah, I reckon it's a done deal and time to move on. But, it still burns me to think that they may very well go back to wherever it is they came from, tellin' a big fish story of how well they did and how great of sportsmen they are. It may not be by my hand, but they'll get theirs in the end.

Leave a note/sign near your lines...."This area and gear monitored by Game Cameras". It may help a little.
I remember bringing too many large (40"+) rounds of firewood out to the busy road one time with no way
to haul all of it. I grabbed a can of paint that was in the truck box and painted "USFS - NO cut" on a few
of them and sure enough, they were still there 2 days later!!

Re: First cup!
I just have to say I think all ya'all have a twisted sense of priorities. To say you're having your "first" cup implies that at some point you had your "last" cup. That's just wrong. Good coffee is a perfect beverage, available in many varieties and presentations suitable for consumption any time of the time or night--or at all times of the day and night.
(Bad coffee is an abomination, and calls for harsh correction of the cook. Tar and feathers is a nice starting point.)
Then again, some might say I'm biased . . .
Sincerely,
Coffeecup

Quality should not be an accident. So what is the explanation for some of the knives we've seen in the past few years? (from A Knifebuyer's Manifesto)

Woke up early and have nearly finished my first cup. Got to get ready for a trip to Houston of about 150 miles
but I get to watch a dance recital with a grand-daughter in it.

Ray hope you have a great trip. No better reason I can think of for a road trip than going to support a young family member doing something positive.
I'm heading out to a gun and knife show here in a bit. Maybe I'll have something to "dance" about before the day's over.

Up and at 'em. Downing a bowl of cereal so when my buddy comes to pick me up, I'll be ready to go. Busy day today. The semi-annual flea market in Pecatonica this morning (I had some pretty good luck there last fall) and my faux grandaughter's graduation party this afternoon (she's the daughter of my son's girlfriend).

She wanted a book on dogs so I got her a book on cats. Nah, I got her the book on dogs. She's a real good kid and I wouldn't do something like that to her.philco wrote:Jerry,

Sorry you didn't find ya one, Phil. Smart move to save your money and wait for what you want. I could take a lesson from that.
Welp, already on my second cup. Todays a milestone for my youngest son.(26) He's finally gonna tie the knot. Wedding is at 1 o'clock this afternoon. You know the old saying, i'm not looseing a son, i'm gaining a daughter.

Re: First cup!
In the low 60s with thunder boomers and rain here this morning. The good news is, all that should pass in another couple of hours. The bad news is, it's supposed to get up into the 90s before the day is over. Ahh, the beautiful mid-west in the spring.

Will do, Jerry!
Enjoy the rain while it lasts, sounds like a steambath later on.
90's here today, too. But, we havn't had a measurable rain in almost a month. I think it's supposed to change early next week though. Poor ol' garden could sure use it.
