Last night I watched part two of the mini-series, part one the night before, and I can't wait to get home and finish it tonite!
I think this is a great run at the story of the feud between these families. It got me so interested after part one, that the next day I did my own little search to find out if the show resembled much of the actual history, and to my pleasure it seemed like what I was reading was pretty well represented in the show!
I've never been too big on mini-series type hystory on account of it ussually requires too much "extra" drama to get people interested, but this one just seems to me to be really well written, and the actors give such great character portrayals. I'm all in on this one. Its nice to find something on TV that can still grab and hold my attention like this.
Even my wife can't wait to find out what happens!

Haven't seen it but will definitely give it a look.One of the best mini-series I've seen was called,"Dream West" and it was based on a book about the explorer John Charles Fremont.Pretty much followed the book which is a fictionalized-based-upon-fact story of his life.The book itself is about 700 pages(I just re-read it a couple months ago)and makes fascinating reading.
As for mini-series;you can't beat any of Ken Burns' epics.From the Civil War to crossing the country by automobile in 1906 on a hundred dollar bet,he is the best.

I've known two of those Hatfields. They looked like father and son but were 40 years apart in age and didn't know each other. Amazing how certain family characteristics breed true. Both of them were nice guys. They were both named John as well.

Was one of the better programs I've seen on TV in quite awhile.

I haven't seen but just a few minutes of any episode but hope to catch the series in its entirety on rebroadcast soon.

Here in Kentucky there are plenty of decendants of both the Hatfield and McCoy clans. I personally know folks from both family lines.

Watched the series and loved it. Couldn't honestly say I was cheering for one family or the other, each family had members I liked and others I couldn't stand. My favorite part was the very end where they told about what happened to the main characters. Those consumed with hatred got what they deserved; those who wished to put it behind them ended up having good lives. It was really interesting how things escalated out of control yet they wouldn't stay away from each other. Like mentioned, it was done as historically accurate as possible. I heard they researched the feud for 5 years before filming. There's a Hatfield/McCoy ATV trail system in Southern WV that I'd like to ride sometime, have heard really good things about it.

I downloaded & watched all 3 episodes yesterday.....I was impressed.
Very good mini series....it was a bit different than the stories I was told and read while growing up.
I guess you could say they sophisticated it a touch.

I would give it a 4/5..

I watched all three episodes. I liked it a lot. The thing I wondered about was "Tom Berringer" being in it? Was that "Uncle Jim Vance" ? I could not tell? I may be mistaken about the name too?

Yep....He was Jim Vance.

I surely did not recognize him. I wonder if he had a lot of make up on or has just gotten very old looking?

A little bit of both...I would say. ....He's 63 y/o.
Sure has been in some good movies.

Being from WV I watched all of it and enjoyed it very much. I grew up about 50 miles from Droop Mountain, which was one of the Civil War battles depicted in the film.

I watched it all, and parts of it twice, and I enjoyed every bit of it. I thought Kevin Costner did a great job as "Devil Anse" Hatfield. I thought Bill Paxton was not quite as good as "Ol' Rannel" McCoy, but was OK.

Like some of you have mentioned, I had to do my own research to ascertain the film's accuracy, and was pleasantly surprised that it was practically right on the money most of the time.

The part that impressed me the most was Kevin Costner's riding ... he sat his saddle really well on that spirited black horse! And, "Devil Anse" was known as an exceptional rider, so it fit right in!
