June 4. My big date.
I quit smoking two years ago today. It's just such a great feeling to not be smoking.
I encourage every one who smokes and doesn't want to, to give it your best shot and end smoking.
I know it's not easy.

Congratulations Joe - that is an anniversary to celebrate! Just think, all that money that used to go up in smoke can now be used to buy knives or ammo!

Good job,Joe!! ......My Wife quit just over a year ago....She used Chantix. 
She had tried several times before and couldn't do it......the chantix really worked for Her.

I've been free from "the nicotine monster" for a little over eight years now. I decided to take the money I spent on cigarettes and spend it on my knife collection. Since cigarettes are about double what they were when I quit, should I buy more knives ?

My buddy told me yesterday that Illinois (The Great State of Chicago) is planning to add another dollar per pack to the cigarette tax. That's going to make it close to $200 a month for a pack a day smoker. Jeez. 
I guess that's a good excuse to increase my knife budget.
I have to admit, I still crave them now and then. It's not that debilitating craving I experienced during the first few weeks after I quit but it's still there.
Interesting stuff (at least to me):
"Many states have relied on an especially regressive and punitive tax: cigarette tax increases (see Table 1). As of January 1, 2012, the average state cigarette tax was $1.46 per pack, a hefty increase from the average of $1.18 just three years earlier and nearly ten times higher than it was a quarter century ago in 1983.[1] (These amounts are in addition to the federal $1.0066 per pack federal cigarette tax.) Since 2002, 47 states and the District of Columbia have raised cigarette taxes a total of 105 times.[2] In New York City, cigarette taxes alone are $5.85 per pack, while in Chicago they are $4.66 per pack. "

Congrats Joe, I quit 12 years ago and its real hard to do but the longer you go the easier it gets, even if it doesnt seem like it!
