Here's a couple shots I snapped today in the backyard...I took a whole bunch of shots of the Case trying to capture the Natural Bone, but it sure is a challenge to get the subtle shades of white to come through. If ya tilt your screen just right it helps a bit! I do like the contrast with the green of the pine though....

Looks good to me Mike.
Lower light seems to help keep the lighter
colors from washing out which masks the jig.

Had nice overcast today in between the
monsoons, did get some shots done.

Monk not quite sure about your knife combo.

...as someone who makes his living in the cheffin' buisness, I can say with certainty that Butter Pecan ice cream would pair quite nicely with a Ribeye steak! A bit of bourbon swirled into the ice cream would really take it over the top!
((as for the peppermint...that's another story. Perhaps with a nice lamb shank it would fit into the mix!))

disclaimer:
Wj choice of flavors was based on Monk's choice of kanifes
& the impressions his choice made at time of viewing which
was before mealtime possibly influencing said impressions.
I certainly would not pair peppermint w/ribeye otherwise.

Unless B&J make a vidalia onion ice cream, butter pecan
would seem more likely with steak than Pmint
As a general rule I'd say beer goes better w/steak than
ice cream unless you're under 7 y/o.

Fruit seems to enhance pork so maybe orange or
pineapple sherbert would be in order.

Lamb? I'd hafta try it w/red velvet cake ice
cream...if the beer was all gone.

Don't know about ya'll but I'm getting hungry.
Bet by now some wish I'd just shaddap and
post a Knife picture!

Oh, Mike! I knew there was something I liked about you. You have such good taste. May I suggest Jim Beam Black, Bulleit or Four Roses yellow label? I think the flavor of any one of those three would go quite nicely with the Butter Pecan.

I add butter pecan to my coffee sometimes.
A little more special than vanilla. Plus when you reach
the bottom there be a few warm soggy pecans waiting for ya.
Repeat as necessary.

The overcast sky was perfect so I did some pics outdoors using a glass turtle and an old birdhouse for backdrops. Hahaha - just saw wosey's comment "camera with a tripod under it". Good one, and so is that appaloosa bone.

Knice one J.P.D. I like the way Bocote grain varies so much.
Each one so unique, guess that applies to all natural grips.

Buffalo quite a talent you have. Like the attention to detail,

Monk here's my other MM redo in DI--a Hartkopf Solingen Pen.
More piddling w/the pond, my latest backdrop.
Sure is tough to get down that low must be getting old & moldy.
Sometimes blade reflections can work in your favor.


Figure some fellow AAPKers might enjoy a chuckle on this middle
of the month Friday. So for 1st time ever here's the setup I came
up with when I discovered outside light does better than inside.
This was before I discovered it was easier to use the small ledges
available in the stone wall or other natural settings vs the 'studio'.
If you try this @ home don't furgit the rock in the box to keep it
& brochure from falling off the grill.
For comparison 2nd pic shows end result of such setup.
Adds a lil + imho when reflection color change will lineup with
brochure's. Adjust tripod height. Tilt blade. Adjust brochure.
Repeat as necessary. Hope this helps

I got a 20" light box from eBay and just tried it out. Here is the best of the first 3 pics.
The lights it came with are not bright at all and I can see I will need to get a couple more. And it looks
like the tripod will need to be used also. I do like the way it knocked the glare off the blade and overall
I can see the light tent/box being a good thing. (Don't get enough good outdoor weather here)

IMB, you might try those Ott lights w/your shadobox.
Developed to help fight effects of cabin fever
(lack of sun exposure) but also makes reading
easier due to clarity.
