carbon used up to 2004?

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

carbon used up to 2004?

Just rescued a Mighty Mite from a brand new source i stumbled upon ( ::ds:: ) and am curious what year Schrade started switching over to stainless since these were made from '79 to '04.

Mines carbon steel and although rusty seems to be not beaten on too hard. Small crack in the scale by a pin but I'm guessing super glue and some polishing will get it back into rotation. ::super_happy::
My retirement shall consist of carbon steel, cheese, and crackers.

To my knowledge they were made in carbon steel to the very end. ::shrug::
I have not heard otherwise, but that may only mean I am uninformed. :lol:

Thanks.
I asked because i know the Sharpfingers changed over to stainless.
My retirement shall consist of carbon steel, cheese, and crackers.
