Captain DL-2R

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

I have the same knife except it had a white cardboard over the box shown in the one on ebay. I say ‘had’ because my dog chewed up one corner of the sleeve when he was a pup.

There was a black one & a red one, the DL2B & DL2R.
They were made from 1987-1990 and sold new for $19.95.
I bought mine in 2006 and paid about $10 for it then.

Here is a copy of the Schrade flyer on these knives. It is dated 1986, so it was probably printed for their annual sales meeting, held every October or November, where the salesman received flyers and pricelists for the coming year.
