What knives should we have in our Collection of the knives sold by Schrade.
List your top six prized knives, you have or would like in your Schrade collection?
After the close-down, I spent most of my time looking for the knives sold from 2000 to 2004... Ken

I always liked the LB5 and the USA made PAL single blade for some reason.
I know there are more expensive Schrades but I always liked these.
I also always liked the George Schrade wire handled Jack.
The 808 and 219 are favs too.
Just about all of the Schrade USA fixed blades are cool too.

Schrade sure sold a lot of Stockmen, the 108, 34, 8 - all are "standards".

Ken, it's just a Camillus #72 clone. I don't have a clue how long they've been around. Some new, still in the tube, come up for sale now and then. There are four up on eBay right now, including one new in the tube for which he wants way too much money. ($95 ) They do go for more than the Camillus #72s, Ulster #63s, etc but not that much more. Since you're a card carrying member of the Aussie Schrade Freakazoid Club, I'm surprised you don't have one.

Nice 863 Jerry, here is a picture of the pile side of the main blade tang on my 863.

In case anyone missed it, for several months I've been carrying an 863. Like T.J. said (paraphrasing) that pattern just might be the perfect knife.

No Jerry, I haven't carried the Schrade. However, I have a Remington R-14D (Camillus) that I do carry - they are nice EDC knives - in my mind the 72 design is essentially a medium stockman with an improved blade selection.

You're right. Camillus called it a whittler but by definition, it really is a stockman with it's own compliment of blades.

I like my old 881, that I found in a gun-shop back in 1973, it has never been out of my sight since - I use it evey day!

Is the knives in the two knife set below,much the same as the 672?

As for buying another knife, I have almost finished my 1991 Display - It has cost me $$$$$
My 1966-67 Buck 301, Schrade made knives has used up more $$$$$$$$$
Then I will start puting all of my collection in the glass display I found, after looking for a BIG GLASS DISPLAY for many years.

Ken -- You left out a word. I think you automatically become a member but I don't know at what point, 50 Schrades? 100 Schrades? 200 Schrades?


I'm a proud member of the U.S. Camillus #72 Freakazoid Club. Carrmillus is President of the club. I think for this little club, 20 is the magic number for automatic membership.


The magic number for the U.S. GEC Freakazoid Club is 100. I'm now a junior associate member (non-voting) because I just got my 10th GEC. For that one, I believe you become an associate member (still non-voting but with limited club privileges) at 50 GECs. Full voting membership after 100 GECs.

Hi Aussie, you picked two of my six.
The Schrade 4" knives ring all my bells every time - The Red Bone 8OT is the top of them.
The Schrade D'holders also have a place in my top six, I have two of the First 500 and one of the last 500.
The Loveless RL-2 is also a nice knife and I would place it in my top six.
I also like the Schrade Lake & Walker1 and would put it in my six, although not a very loved knife.
The late 2000-2004 USA made Schrade SQ knives were Underestimated at the time and they are hard to find now-a-days.
I also prize my Buck 301 knives made in 1966-67 by Schrade...Ken
