Somebody else will have to help you with the date, I do remember Shrades being packaged like that and I think the price may have been about the same as you paid today. What a deal!!! Maybe one day I'll be in the right place at the right time. timf600, how did you come by such a good deal? Treefarmer

Here's a link to some great information about Schrade knves compiled by our own "Orvet" aka Dale Vincent. This can be found in the Articles and Research section accessable through the tab at the top of the page.

Re: Schrade Walden
You'll probably get more response in the Schrade sub forum, but I'll give it a stab anyway...
The first knife dates around 1973 or later.
The second knife ranges from 1948-1973.
The third knife pic is too blurry. But the key to look for in the original schrades is if the tang stamp says "Walden". That will date it in the 1948-1973 range. Notice I say "original" Schrades, because there are later knives with the Walden stamp, that are not from the pre-bankruptcy manufacturer.
Hope that helps some.

Re: Schrade Walden
Great deal!
I would date them all from the early 1970's or mid to late 1960s. 1973 was the "line in the sand" between Schrade Walden NY USA, and Schrade NY USA stamped knives. The SCHRADE engraved shield and SCHRADE WALDEN stamp on the 272 put it right on the cusp. The 825SS appears to have a SCHRADE NY USA stamp and a SCHRADE WALDEN tube, again, right around the 1973 time frame. That pattern came out in 1964-65. I can't see the stamp on the 834, but with Delrin handles, it is from the 1960s or 1970's. My 2 cents worth.
