New guy dropping in!

Post by trevytrev »

Hello everyone! My name is Trevor I've been to the site quite a few times while researching or looking for particular knives. I've found lots of great info here so I figured I would join up! I love all sorts of knives and I'm a member of the Buck Collectors Club but I have passion for the Sodbuster pattern and it's worldly counterparts. I'm always looking to add to my collection and hope to be able to help people out with questions on the pattern. Thanks and I look forward to hanging around. Trevor~

Here's a question Trev: I have heard that German Eye made the first sodbuster pattern. Do you know if true or not. If not who did?

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

As to the first sodbuster, I haven't heard that Carl Schlieper made the first sodbuster pattern, I'll check into it. I do believe that the consensus(from what I've read) is the pattern did come out of Germany. They were called clasp knives or folding butcher knives and now are called hippeknieps(pocket knife). Many of the Solingen companies had a version and Case eventually used the pattern and then patented the "sodbuster" name. I still have lots to learn and there is a sodbuster pattern in many different countries by other names such as the Mineur(miners knife) in France, the Campana or Pastors knife in Spain to name few. I would love to hear more info that others have, I've been googling up a storm to find info and different versions.

I am a little late, but welcome Trevor - enjoyed your display of Sodbusters in the thread up top.
