Here are the 4 Keen Kutters I have. The first three are E. C. Simmons and the forth is a schrade made peanut shown with a schrade walden 810 contemporary.

One of the few Keen Kutters I own.Obviously rehandled, poor job, look at the shield. So I'll send her to a friend for a make-over in African Blackwood.
Tang stamps hide more than they reveal.

My small collection of Keen Kutters. I would like more but competition for the few good ones that come up on ebay has gotten pretty stiff.

here is a couple old keen kutters i thought that i would post to get this thread going again
Re: Old Keen Kutter Knives
On the barlow, you need to look at the tang stamp. If it says "E.C. Simmons", it's pre WWII, if it doesn't (and my guess is that it doesn't) it would most likely be after the war. The general construction of the knife appears to me to be Camillus manufacture (obviously barlows are all pretty similar however), made for Shapleigh c 1940' - 50's.

Re: Old Keen Kutter Knives
you are right, this has no EC Simmons below the tang stamp. Main blade has pattern number on the other side of the tang - 829.msteele6 wrote:On the barlow, you need to look at the tang stamp. Heres a big E.C.Simmons K.K 4-1/4" cigar jack
The other is a e.c. Simmons kk warncliff whitter that has a surgical blade as one of the second blades.
Looks like a littler warncliff blade. But my book calls it a surgical blade.
