Happy Birthday to me (early)
My two best buddies dropped early birthday gifts on me. I guess because one of them is taking off tomorrow for Seattle Washington for his annual sailing trip with his brother and won't be back until after my birthday.
Both are very thoughtful gifts and totally unexpected. The one that's going to sail with his brother bought a new battery for my bike (IT NEEDS IT). The other bought a sonic jewelry cleaner for me to use for cleaning knives. I've used it already and it's as slick as snot on a doorknob. It works great. My old Schrade 108OT main blade was getting a little balky and oil wasn't doing the trick. After cleaning, blowing out with the air compressor and re-oiling, it snaps like new.
Is this going to be the end all, do all? I doubt it but I'll definitely be using it on any old knives I buy.

At ease troops. Cool your jets there monkeys. It's not for another couple of weeks or so. And JohnnieR, I'll be older than Starlin Castro (Cubs shortstop) but not as old as Methuselah though it doesn't feel that way at times.

Thank you for the birthday wishes EARLY. Better early than late.

Donald -- I assume you mean no birthdays at all. If so, you got that right brother.

I think I'm going to justify this by calling it an early birthday present to myself.

Nice one, Jerry. I don't think I've ever seen a burnt sky acrylic look so good.

Jerry, happy birthday early! I'm an August man myself! That jewelry cleaner is a dandy and so is that knife! Happy birthday!

Happy birthday - nice gift - now you could really get that Garand clean!

Hey, hey, hey. I'm not that old. Except for ITR (one month right after boot camp) it was all M-14s for me. Love that rifle.Old Hunter wrote:now you could really get that Garand clean!
Just got back into town. We've been up at a cabin on Castle Rock Lake Wisconsin since Sunday. Tired but happy. It was a very peaceful and enjoyable three days. Drove all the way up to Rudolph WI yesterday to visit a cheese factory. Great cheese at a very reasonable price. Brought back seven different varieties of cheese totaling five pounds for $20.
Fresh cheese curds
Dairy Fudge
Swiss with Caraway seeds
Aged Swiss (1 year)
Cream Havarti w/dill
Aged Cheddar (7 years)
Muenster
Thank you all for the birthday wishes.
