Dale Update!! Dale and his buddy are spending the night in Chipley Florida. My wife and I met Dale this evening and spent a couple of hours getting acquainted. An evening well spent! His plans are to travel I-10 to I-75, then south to Naples and across Alligator Alley to Miami. Treefarmer

Dale Update!! Dale and his friend are holed up in Ocala, till tomorrow. He said they will probably change their route and go on the turnpike rather than the west coast I-75 Alligator alley route to avoid delays caused by the storm. Keep 'em in your prayers. Treefarmer

Well, Phil was right, we spent the night in Ocala. It was starting to rain yesterday afternoon & the roads were pretty slick, so we decided to spend another night on the road.

This morning it appears the hurricane has passed south of us & mostly missed Florida and will hit New Orleans or thereabouts.

We are pushing on before long. We should make Miami this evening if all goes well.
Thank you all for your concern and prayers.

Dale called this morning from the airport. I guess he needed to be entertained while he waited on his flight. Said he'll be home playing catch up this evening.

Safe trip Dale.

NO!

I got home late last night, went to bed and slept for 10 hours. I am just about ready to go take a nap now!
It was an interesting trip, but I would not recommend it to anyone older than 25 years old! Nine days of setting in a pickup is torture, almost as bad as the flight home.

When I get a chance to rest up and get caught up with some of the things I need to do ASAP, I will post a few pics of the trip and share some of my experiences. It was a "great adventure" but I don't want to repeat it anytime soon......if ever!

Dale, I enjoyed following your adventure via AAPK postings - welcome home!

Home again home again jiggity jig. ::tu::
I made a drive from Atlanta, Ga. to Portland, OR. to Phoenix,AZ. and back to Ga. in my early twenties. At the time it was for a girl and adventure. I would be hard pressed to do it today especially with the current fuel prices.

Glad your back Dale!

Hey Dale, my mother-n-law is moving from San Antonio to northern Maine. She'll need somebody to drive her up there in her '46 DeSoto with bias ply tires, no air, no power steering and no power brakes. You interested? You can drop the DeSoto back at my uncles place in SoCal before you head back home. Just let me know, i'll make all the arrangements.

WB

P.S. Glad ya made it back safe! ::tu::
