Hi guys! Cynthia Vignos here...great-great-grand daughter of Major Augustus Vignos.
Anyone interested in reading a brief biography of Augustus can find it here:

As you can guess, I have a few Novelty Cutlery Co. items in my personal collection - including a straight razor (in the original case), a cake spatula and a letter opener - as well as other memorabilia. I've enjoyed reading your comments, and am encouraged by your interest in the company.
Warmest Regards,
Cynthia Vignos

Re: Real Knife Lore: Augustus Vignos
Cynthia,
I have a hand written note dated February 4, 1863. I notes that they are camped near Brooks Landing, VA and it requests that, a distant grandparent of mine, travel to an area called Aequia Creek Landing, VA to acquire a coffin for a recently deceased soldier. The note appears to have been written by a S. Meyer, Col commanding the 104th Reg. Ohio Vol. Inf. 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, 11th Army Corps, Army of the Potomac. Noted in the document it states that Captain Augustus Vignos had made the initial request.
