Mornin' group! I woke up early and have my 1st cup cooled to sippin temperature.
I'm looking forward to a lazy day. Gonna stay inside as I think it will be up in the 100s again today. I'd sure like to get a cool front.

WOW, I missed some great coffee talk yesterday.
We ended up staying at our daughters house Sat. night to avoid the possibility for a DUI.
I use the BUNN type coffee maker.
Happy Labor Day everybody!

Re: First Cup Diner!
I've had the air conditioner turned off and the windows open for the last few days. Looks like I'm going to have to close up and turn on for the next two days.
Wishing everyone a safe and fun filled Labor Day.
Side thought: When you use a piece of equipment to cool your house, they call it an 'air conditioner' but when you use a piece of equipment to heat your house, they call it a furnace. Don't they both condition the air? --- Just one more thing that makes you go 'Huh?'.

Got a little one-cup dripper, 'cause I'm the only one drinking coffee. When the wife gets the urge for coffee (usually when it's cold weather), she will only drink the instant stuff

Haven't slept this late in a while! Checking out the forum even before the pot is done. Jerry here is the answer to your "side thought". Here in LA (lower Alabama) the device that heats and cools the house is called a heat pump, it pumps heat in during cold weather and pumps heat out in hot weather
. The sad part is, it is probably going to be way out in October before we can even think about lettin' it rest for a while
. The worst part of Labor Day and being retired is you don't really get a day off! Treefarmer

Re: First Cup Diner!
I've never had a heat pump Phil but I've heard they work best in the milder climates where the temperature doesn't get down to -20 deg in the winter. Something about the coefficient of performance (COP) approaching 1 during our kind of cold weather.
That's what I read anyway. All I know is, you don't see many of them up in this part of the country and the ones you do see are usually the ground source (geothermal) variety.

Re: First Cup Diner!
What's left of tropical storm Isaac has decided to visit my little corner of the world for a bit and I'm enjoying a nice rainy day off from work. Slept in two hours later than usual and I'm just now finishing up my first mug full. ( I use a big travel mug for my coffee at home or away.)
Not much planned for the day, but smoking a brisket is an idea I've been knocking around. We'll see........

Re: First Cup Diner!
Scott, Monk, Colonel. Good morning to all. Every day above ground is a good day.
Maybe I shouldn't use that phrase. It was a favorite of my ex-brother-in-law and he ended up dying in a motorcycle accident at the tender age of 45. May God rest his soul.
I don't want to be gloomy so early in the morning so the good news is, I picked up a couple of knives yesterday that I've been wanting. If they ship today as advertised, they should be here by Thursday, no later than Friday.

Or what's left of it. Wifey left me to sleep in today
Got an inch of rain yesterday, and more expected today. Some of my grass is knee high now. Wonder if one of my neighbors will loan me a hay baler......

Afternoon guys! I got up this morning to a monitor that had given up the ghost. Just got a new one installed. It is wider and will take some getting used to.
