Putting Up the Flag

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

That's nice,TJ. I like that. I like that flag..... alot. Good ol' Red White and Blue.

The one I don't get is the one, just like that one, often displayed at some high falutin events with the gold fringe all around it.
Who's flag is that?

Thanks for showing that video.

Gold fringe can be found on ceremonial flags used indoors and for outdoor ceremonies. The fringe is considered completely within the guidelines of proper flag etiquette.

Old Hunter,
thanks for the enlightenment. I'll make a pessimism adjustment. Personally, I question the concept.

Well ...... so much for the adjustment.

You are welcome. Here is a picture I took last night at our monthly VFW meeting. The two flags (US and VFW) have gold fringe - these flags are used inside and in ceremonies on Veterans Day and Memorial Day (ceremonial flags), the US flag that flies outdoors over our building is an all-weather flag without the fringe - a "field flag". The US military services keep both types of flags as well (fringed and plain).

A cousin of ours who is retired Navy sent this video to us a week or so ago. It is very good! Just raise the flag because you can. God Bless America! Treefarmer
