how much did you railbirds win? i was too busy doin honeydos to watch the race.

Well, when it came up dry instead of wet, I managed to substitute Street Sense for Any Given Saturday in my exacta box. The exacta paid just over $100.00.

Street Sense looked like, and made a move like, a very fine horse...on his way to breaking the Breeder's Cup Juvenile jinx.

I was to confused to play an exacta box so I just bet $50 to win on

STREET SENSE. I was just going on a gut feeling for this horse. So minus

my $50 bet I won $245. Now the hard part is to find my brother in law to

collect.

Yes sir ...well placed, and a chilly boy aboard, as he gobbled horses along the fence. He was one happy dude...

Bill; I forgot to mention in my post last night what a great call you

made on HARD SPUN and your Exacta Box! While watching the

race I thought HARD SPUN was going to go wire to wire. A shorter track

and he would have been the Winner. Perhaps the Preakness? Or was it

that STREET SENSE just got boxed in at the beginning of the race? Very

interesting. What do you think?


P.S. If the Derby would have been a beauty contest, CURLIN wins hands

down!

I believe that Street Sense is the superior horse, and was given an almost perfect trip and ride by Borel...a rider I did not know.
I liked Hard Spun because he looked like the true, honest speed to me...and us West Coast boys always look to see who is gonna be up front with the true speed.
I believe Hard Spun was somewhat fortunate to open up without too much pressure, and would be surprised if he got that chance again. However, he did not quit when passed, and was clearly second best.

Several horses probably have a right to improve (notably Circular Quay off the layoff), but I was impressed with Street Sense, and if the fields are smaller (like they usually are) in both the other two Jewels, he bears great consideration IMO.

How would you like to have a winning $2 trifecta ticket on Saturday's Kentucky Derby and wind up losing $13,240.

It happened to a bettor at West Ridge OTB.
According to witnesses, the man entered the parlor around noon and asked how much it would cost to buy every possible trifecta combination (a bettor must pick the first three finishers in exact order) in the 20-horse field. After being told it would cost $13,680, he left — presumably to visit his bank.

He returned shortly thereafter, purchased his tickets and left.

Here were the $2 trifecta payoffs for the past six Kentucky Derbies before Saturday:

2006 — $11,418.40.

2005 — $133,134.80.

2004 — $987.60.

2003 — $664.00.

2002 — $18,378.20.

2001 — $12,238.40.

Unfortunately for the hopeful bettor, the 2007 Derby $2 trifecta payoff of $440 was a far cry from 2005 and 2002 returns.
