Mason Pen Blades

Needing a matched pair of pen blades (1-L 1-R) to fix this Mason & Co. tuxedo style whittler. Not real worried about tang stamps or blade styles, just proper fit. The critical measurements are shown on the paper. These measurements are reasonably accurate, but could vary slightly. Overall the length of each blade would have likely been around 1-1/2" to 1-5/8". Please PM any offers.

Man that is small. I don't have parts but I checked a small Colonial I have and the small pen blade on it is very close. I picked mine up cheep, but it is a pair to a knife of my Dad's and that is why I got it. Since it is in good shape I can't take it apart to get exact measurements but it is really close. I see these a good bit here in my area. I will be on the look out. Here is a pic for anyone that thinks they have one.

Thanks Chief! Not sure if I have any just like yours, but I have a quite a few Colonial pen blades, none fit properly. Most over travel in the open position. There are a couple of other critical measurements I need to add to the drawing, i'll try to remember to do that later today and update the post.

well, i sent off two parts knives to help with this project....SUPRISE....one found it's way back home...with a complete rebuild...

I found some that may be small enough.
If you still need them I will dig them out.

I have been doing some reorganizing and just re-discovered these.

Hey Dale, I am still lookin' for blades to fix this one. Whittlers sure are a tough pattern to do blade replacements on!

I think I have a couple blades.
How long can they be?

I think the originals were probably around 1-1/2", but i'd say up to 2" would probably still work, depending on how thin the grinds are towards the tips. This is a 3-1/2" tuxedo, so it's not all that small of a knife.

Rob, I have the small blades from a Case Seahorse left over from one that I cut down to a single bladed model that you can have if you think they'll work.

Hey Bob, the main problem i've had with all the blades i've tried so far is the .210 measurement that I show on the drawing in the OP. All so far have been deeper notched and the blades over travel in the open position. If all else fails, I could tig weld a build-up to make the notch shallower. But, i've been holding out on that as a last resort. I've also considered tig welding up the original pin holes on a couple of blades, annealing the blade and redrilling the pin hole. Then rehardening the blade afterwards. But, that is getting into deep waters, and again, something I would only do as a last resort. Even with Ivory handles, this ol' knife's only worth so much effort!
With all that said, i'd still be willing to try any blades that are available. I can always send 'em back if they don't work.

I just downloaded the picture, so I'll print it out and take it to the workshop to see what I've got that might work. If they fit, they're yours.

Hey Rob,
PM me your address & I will get these blades in the mail.
See how these work, one is a file as was common on some of those whittlers.
Give these a try & see how they work for you, weld them if you need.

These are about 2", I may have some smaller ones but this will give me an idea to start.
