schrade whittlers

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

schrade whittlers

Post by stockman »

Hello, I have two Schrade Walden # 804 carpenter whittlers. One is green bone with flat master blade marked Schrade Walden NY USA. The other is brown redish bone with saber clip master etched Craftsman and marked Schrade Walden NY, I think unless the USA is hidden by the bolster. I am not fluent on Schrades and would like help knowing about these knives, age ect.

Thanks Stockman

They look to be in very nice condition, stockman!
They were made after 1946, but I think close-ups of the tang stamps, and other details are needed to determine if they were made before or after 1973. I'm not an expert in the later Walden stampings.

Great looking knives. Surely collectable.
