Handle made of teak wood from USS Bataan CVL-29 1950's!

Post by wirenut »

This knife was made by a man that lives about 3 blocks from my house. The handle is made from teak wood that come off of the flight deck of the USS Bataan CVL-29. The ship was scrapped in I think 1961ish and my grandfather, who was on the ship for 3 years in Korea, got 4 pieces of the wood at his naval reunion in the late 90's. I own many Case knives but this is by far the most valuable to me. I just wanted to share that with yall. Tell me what yall think.

Thank you. I have 2 more blocks of the wood about 5 inches by 3 inches that I will post when I can. Teak is awesome for knife handles.
