Gassed Out
Thought I would post this just to show an example of extreme gassing in a knife. Frank Buster / Tennessean / Muskrat type of knife. Don't know the year it was made. I used to consider these type of knives as pure junk but now look at them as projects. Also got the Kissing Crane stag with one blade in it. I'm thinking it may be possible to combine the two?

If you don't mind Bob, I'm stealing your pictures for future examples of out gassing. Fug ugly dude.

WoW! That knife didn't have gas... it crapped it's pants!
How in the world did the blades and etch survive that?
Those bolsters and blades would look nice on the other frame.

Re: Gassed Out
You're welcome to use the pics. Here is another old Case I bought some time back with good blades. I had to wait a year to find a frame but one did pop up.

Re: Gassed Out
Got back on this and feel like knife restoration is kind of like remodeling your house. Every time you walk through you see something you wish you had done different or better. I have a dimple in one of the bolsters that is my own fault. I had to make a back spring for this - the pits in it were just too deep. I'm really happy with the way it came out. It has great snap and feels good. Will spend some time time with the final finishing of it.
