I doubt seriously if more than a few of you have ever heard of Brother Dave Gardner but he was one of my favorites while stationed at Port Hueneme in 1962. I had just about all his routines memorized.
There's a fairly long lead in here but worth waiting out so please listen to "The Motorcycle".

I used to always like Brother Dave. Used to really like the story of Little David (member the stewed tomater samitches) and the one about Julius Caesar. Cool stuff Jerry, thanks for posting that

Sorry. I don't remember "Little David" or maybe I didn't know the name of the routine in the first place. One of our favorites was The Haunted House (Will you be here when John gets here?) and another was "Wait for it. It's comin'." but I don't know the name of that one.

Jerry, that really brings back some memories. Didn't realize you were so old
. You were stationed at Port Hueneme in '62, I was a mere child still in high school that year. My wife and I still have a 33 album of Dave Gardner from those days, 'course we ain't got nothing to play it on. We had a lot of fun listening to him a couple of years prior to Parris Island in '64. Still funny stuff, even if it's not politicaly correct by today's gauge! I especially like the sign mentioned in the Motorcycle tale, on the back of the truck, "I might be slow but I'm ahead of you." Yeah Phil, on the forum, I look much younger than I am.
68 doesn't sound old until I say it out loud and think how close I am to 70.
You went through boot camp the same year as my buddy Fred W. only he went through at MCRD San Diego.
