This is my first Post!
I think I just caught a virus called Schrade knife collecting and can't seem to shake it no matter how much chicken soup I eat
It all started with a little Schrade Walden 708, given as a gift. I didn't usually carry a knife, but once I did I found so many situations that I used it I must admit to being a bit surprised. I also started to really dig the detail and design. Also Schrades seem like a good affordable choice to start with. In fact, I am trying to focus on learning about Shcrade Cut co and Schrade Waldens. The serial numbering system begs to be collected. So yes, I am a fan. And No, I really don't know a THING about knife collecting. So I downloaded all these great catalogs and have been combing over them to try to figure out which way is up.
Anyway... I've been hitting E-Bay. I noticed that Schrade Cut Co seemed to release a few versions that aren't in the catalogs. Two are on there now. There is one that seems based on a Shrade Cut co 2152 1/2. But it only has one blade and Rosewood Handle (Cocobola?). That would make this a 1521 1/2 which does not seem to be listed.
They usually vary on a feature or two it would seem. Was this a normal thing? It seems like they made these "special" versions kinda willy nilly. Are they more collectible? Are they frauds? Any insight?
