DID SCHRADE MAKE THESE AND ARE THE DATES 1887-1940. I CHECKED LEVINES AND ONE OF THE MAKERS I GUESS WERE SCHRADE. ITS A NICE BONE HANDLED STOCKMAN I GUESS. ANY IDEA OF THE AGE. WERE THERE REPOPS IN THE 80'S. THIS ONE LOOKS VERY OLD TO ME. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK? THANKS.

there was an older fellow that started out bringing a few knives to sell to workers at the yard. over time he increased his customers & became locally famous. i'm sure some forum members can add more info.--HiPower

IM GLAD I HUNG ON AT THE AUCTION. 70.00 WAS MORE THAN I WANTED TO GO BUT THERE IS GOING TO BE SOME GREAT HISTORY ON THIS ONE. THATS WHAT KEEPS A COLLECTOR GOING. I WELCOME ANY INPUT ON THIS GREAT KNIFE, THANKS!!! IM SURE ITS NOT A NEWER KNIFE. I USED THE WORD REPOP AND SHOULD HAVE SAID REPRODUCED.

I'll try and get hold of one of the fellows who posts here often and goes by JACKNIFEBEN. He is vacationing in Fl. He has a terrific collection of Jack Knife Bens and knows their history well. He will know the answers.

You made a real buy. That knife could date back to Napanoch or Winchester with that match striker nail pull. Some close up pictures might help. What part of the country did you find it? I have some pictures of some of my Jack Knife Ben knives in my gallery right here on AAPK.

I think JKB is correct; I don't think Schrade Cutco made this one.

I was only comparing the frames, most companies used the frames on
different knives. Cattle and Utility like this example. I've enjoyed looking
at you JKB nice find.

I CHECKED IT OUT. ITS A FANTASTIC STORY ABOUT SOMEONE STARTING OUT WITH A COUPLE OF DOLLARS AND A WOODEN BARREL MAKING KNIVES FOR THE STOCK YARD WORKERS. HE WORKED UP TO A STORE WITH HIS SON HELPING. WHAT A SUCCESS STORY. SOME GREAT QUALITY KNIVES. THANKS FOR THE INFO.
