My first Schrade Walden. I like it.

In a knife trade with Junebug the other day, I got hold of this little Schrade Walden 895. Now previously about all I knew about Schrade knives were Old Timers. Wow this is a great little knife. The only thing that keeps it from being perfect is that it's a touch smaller than what I like.

It's been well used, but the blades are still pretty full. It's scary sharp. It has very positive snap, and best of all no gaps! It doesn't even have a pin hole of light coming through.

Is this level of quality the norm worth Schrade Walden knives? If so, I need more! Here are a couple of pics.

Nice one Wade!
Thought it may be a bit small for you, a lot of folks found them perfect.
I do believe the 895 pattern was the knife upon which the 897UH 'Signature Premium Stock' knife was based.
Nice find!

My favorite Schrade stockman pattern to carry was the 'Slim Premium Stock" knife, the 61OT or the 861.
They ride much better in my pocket than the 8OT, and seem to fit my hand better.

I found all the lines from Schrade...OT, UH, and the open stock, to all be well put together. I would say that is quality that you should expect across the board in the Schrade Walden era. Can't speak as much for the post 73 era, don't have as many examples. I will say that the open stock Delrin knives were prone to pin cracks on the "rocker" pin.
