15ot question

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

15ot question

Post by JAMESC41001 »

Can anyone tell me what years the 15ot had "pat pending"on the tang stamp. I have an unused one with a laced 1970 sheath. The box and paperwork are almost perfect and not likely original to the knife. Now I am wondering if the sheath is also not original to the knife.

If you go to Articles and Research and click on Schrade than Old Timer it give a time frame for the knife.to have Patent Pending it would have to be the early.

And if you go to the Schrades R US site you can look at pics of the knives as they appeared in the catalogs.

Here is one of the early 15OT fliers dated 1964.

This flyer is also from 1964.

Those are the two earliest fliers I have of the 15OT.
There may be a design patent on the 15OT, but I have not seen the papers on it.

Thanx Dale. Do you own one of those sheaths with the leather flap for the handle? I have not seen one
