ZIPPO "Shorty"

ZIPPO "Shorty"
To any of you Vietnam vets, do you recall the troops cutting the ZIPPO lighters down to make a "Shorty"? If so, what was the purpose of cutting them down? The one that I am showing has been cut down 1/2" shorter than a standard ZIPPO.

They put a lot of crazy stuff on ZIPPO's in Vietnam. This one's pretty mild compared to some.
