Re: For K7K
Is it not truly amazing what a person can do with knowledge, skill and perseverance?
I'd love to know what he did for a living.

You're welcome Jerry. What amazes me, besides the build of course, is he says it has a top end of 100 MPH

Tommy, that car was almost new then. Those old bath tubs were the hot ticket back in the '50s & '60s. Actually, they still are.
One of the guys I went through Construction Electrician class with had a Hudson. We were both from Illinois and there was this one spot outside the main gate at Port Hueneme Naval Seabee Base where he could pick up WLS (Chicago) on the radio when the skip was runnin'. It was so nice to sit there and soak up a little slice of home.

Re: For K7K
Thank you so much for posting that;I had seen pictures of the car recently but the video was great in that it showed the under construction shots. The only thing I noticed(and it is a really minor detail)is the proportions of the rear side windows are a bit off but that doesn't detract one bit from the amazing workmanship in the car.
There are some incredibly talented people out there today fabricating some amazing vehicles. At the James Dean Run in 1994 or 95 there was a Model A Ford coupe done to the same scale.I wonder if it might have been the same gentleman?
I recently saw a guy who built a full size replica in aluminum of a 1941 Willys coupe and it was amazing as well. And if you want to see some really wild stuff there is a website(I'll try and look it up to post)that is devoted to the construction of miniature scale model automobile and aircraft engines(running of course).
I could spend the rest of my life looking at stuff like this and never see the same site twice.

This will answer most of our questions, but sadly doesn't show enough photos of the other cars he has built.

.......jerry, my folks had a big old philco floor model radio back in the late '40's-early '50's, i used to listen to mantovani on WGN chicago on that thing when i was in high school-it had a huge 15"speaker on gimballs that you turned from the back to tune in stations-the speaker magnet was the antenna, i guess-wish i still had that radio-it also had a police band on it that you could pick up the tugboat chatter on the miss. river, which was nearly 100 miles away.................jerryd6818 wrote:Tommy, that car was almost new then. Tommy -- Those were the days.
Ray -- If you've been to James Dean Days, you've run into two of my cousins and didn't know it. For years they have gone every year without fail. One lives in Anderson, the other builds his own cars (does everything) and lives just east of East St. Louis.
