Why now?
Semi-auto guns have been around for 100 years or so.
Going back to the 70's and earlier. I was 13 when I got a Ruger 10/22 for Christmas and at 16 I got a 222 Savage and Ithica 12ga.
I went hunting with my buds who all had guns. We all were teenagers, we were all fairly good shots.. We never shot anyone.
None of us, ever went and shot up our school.
You never heard of anyone shooting up their school or a mall back then.
I think back then there was one who got up in a tower and shot a few students at a college, that was the start of it. It took a long while after that for it to happen again.
Yes there has been gang violence for years, there were mob wars.
I am talking about this new craze of going in theaters, malls, schools and shooting as many as you can and more often than not killing your self before the police can stop you.
Why now? What has changed? Is it something in the water or air.
Is it the meds that the give to the kids today because boys are being boys?
What the hell is going on?
What the hell is wrong with people today?
I don't think all the new gun laws will change a thing.
We need to figure out WHY.

12And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. Matthew 24:12
What else can you expect when you've banished God from everywhere?! He's not welcome in our schools, our public squares, our politics, our entertainment, etc..... Nature abhors a vacuum.if you get rid of God, something else takes his place.
We've made our choice as a society. Now we reap what we've sown.

Re: Why now?
We were the same way back in the 70's bro......never any problems....
Heck dude, my dad kept his gun cabinet (loaded with guns and ammo) in the dining room, with the key secretly hidden on the top
Never, never, never did we open that gun case and touch anything. We weren't scared of what the guns could do, we were terrified of what our father would do...........
Today....I think it has to do with:
1). what's in our foods
2). video games
3). and no respect is taught.......kids are just told that guns and knives are BAD today....no reason.

Re: Why now?
Cobra, You ask the same questions I have been asking. Why hasn't anyone in Washington asked why times have changed so drastically? Are they afraid of the truth? Back in the 50's, 60's and 70's there were more guns in peoples' homes than there are now. Like you said, we were taught not to touch the guns when we were little kids, but eventually we grew up using and respecting firearms. When I was in high school, I would have my .22 or shotgun in the back window of my old pickup parked in the school parking lot, and after school my buddies and I would go hunting. Can you imagine that today? Our wise politicians have outlawed discipline, whether at home or in school. So now "we reap what we sow."
Life would be meaningless if we couldn't wish for anything.

God, country, family in any order you like. Folks with all three will never be involved in things that do not respect the lives and rights of others. People with one or two will never think of the stupid violence that we see from folks. People without any of the 3, or feel like they are, will always do sinceless stuff till they are put away or destroy themselves.

I can sum up the ills of our society in one simple yet profound phrase;
Romans 1:22
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

Philco, you hit the nail on the head! The whole country has left common sense out of its' vocabulary whether it is a political issue, a physical issue or a spiritual issue. God help us! Treefarmer
