Forgive my ignorance, but looking through an old Schrade catalog and many of the knives are listed as being "cleaned inside".....exactly what does this mean? I'm assuming something to do with the liners....?

I think mostly back-spring and kick,but it could mean them also.

Very funny Jerry! You didn't appreciate that Mike? Well in all seriousness, I would think it would mean the blade well is cleaned of all the grinding and polishing gunk that might gather there during the manufacturing process. Just a guess. 
Remember how we've seen posted here that some new knives of certain brands need to have the gunk cleaned from their joints after purchase?

Cleaned inside means the liners were polished and the backspring was dressed and polished. Normally the backspring is rough and a grayish brown dull color due to heat treat, left as is it was known as "black" inside.
