Not quite. Sold the 4x4, and there hasn't been a field plowed around here in 30 years ::smirk::

Dogg, that is cool - the absolute perfect way to photograph a Buck 121!

Good luck, gard, bag a beauty!

By the way, morels are in season in Western MD. Get you some before they're gone. ::nod:: By the way, that's a quarter for scale (about 1"). Check this out if you're interested in morel recipes. http://www.mushroom-appreciation.com/morel-recipes.html The homemade cream of morel soup is really tasty and I froze a quart and ate it 11 months later. It was just as good as the day I made it.

Thanks, gard. My bro picked the ones soaking in salt water (on the right) on Wednesday, I found the ones on the left this evening.

Yesterday, our son Ryan, who is now 10, had his first successful hunt and got his first turkey. Ryan has been going hunting with us for a couple of years. When he was 8, he had a chance but got nervous & mom had to shoot the turkey. Bret calls the turkeys in. Bret doesn't carry a gun because Ryan is a mentored youth hunter.

It was a cold morning & we had a full moon the night before. Bret would call & we would hear gobbles far off. We thought the gobbles were getting closer when we heard 3 shots fire a ways off. Bret & I worried that our chance was done. However, we waited a little while & Bret called again & we heard more gobbles. Our bird was still on it's way!

At about 6:30 in the morning, the old blue head was on a fast trot through the woods around 28 yds away from us. I wasn't sure Ryan was going to get it. I thought it was going to be out of his range and I was just about half a second from pulling my trigger when Ryan fired on the bird. The bird started to flail & Bret ran up to bag it. Ryan really made a great shot!

The turkey was a beauty. It was 21lbs, with a 10 1/2 beard & 1 inch spurs. Bret & I were so proud of our young man!

Congrats to Ryan!!! I'm sure you all had a great time and bagging the bird was icing on the cake. It is great to see a young man hunting, he looks real excited and proud.

He was so excited! Ryan was mad his brother called him a yuppy-kid last week... First thing he said to Tyler was "I ain't no yuppy kid!" LOL

That saying comes from Duck Dynasty. Got to love a show that has made being a Christian country kid cool again!
