The American Eagle-Commemorative Series-1776~1976

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

The American Eagle-Commemorative Series-1776~1976

Post by Schradenut »

Hi blade brothers. I have been an avid collector of all things Schrade, for some time. Quite often i need to know specific information about a knife, or a set of knives, and gain an amazing amount of knowledge from this site. AAPK has some guys with amazing knowledge of Schrade knives...Codger, Dale, Thawk, but to mention a few. My hope is that there are enough younger enthusiests to keep the site active and interesting, as it is now, for many years to come.
My reason for making my first foray onto onto this site, is that i was after information about a set of knives, and although there was some snippets available, it was not complete, and was stretched over many threads.
My topic of interest was "Parker/Schrade - The American Eagle - Commemorative Series 1776~1976". I have gathered up all the information that i could find, and present it as under. I trust that this information will be of assistance to anyone going down the same path that i was just on;

Welcome to AAPK! :D :D
Deep in the guts of most men is buried the involuntary response to the hunter's horn, a prickle of the nape hairs, an acceleration of the pulse, an atavistic memory of his fathers, who killed first with stone, and then with club...Robert Ruark
