Being part of the community of Veterans I recieve something like or this itself near every year. I think a lot of folks on here would appreciate the entire article and link to the wall.

Vietnam Wall - THIS IS AMAZING

As Memorial Day approaches, this site holds significance.

The details of all our fallen heroes service are now available to anyone with a computer. And that’s a good thing.

Then click on their names. It should show you a picture of the person, or at least their bio and medals.




This really is an amazing web site. Someone spent a lot of time and effort to create it.




I hope that everyone who receives this appreciates what those who served in Vietnam sacrificed for our country. The link below is a virtual wall of all those lost during the Vietnam War with the names, bio's and other information on our lost heroes. Those who remember that time frame, or perhaps lost friends or family can look them up on this site.

Pass the link on to others, as many knew wonderful people whose names are listed.

Moss -- About ten to fifteen years ago there was a web site where you could enter a name and branch of service and it would tell you whether or not that individual had served, boots on ground, in Viet Nam. I can't find it anymore.

The Traveling Wall came through here in '86 or '87 so I got to see it then. I would love to see the one in Washington.

Jerry, get to DC if you can and view the Wall - it will take your breath away. I have been there three times since it was constructed and it never fails to have that effect - the American lives sacrificed, that those names represent, will simply overpower you. Bruce

The Viet Nam Veterans Association used to have a website through which you could search for men that had served in-country, their branch of service and MOS.

I don't know why, but they shut it down.

I have no idea how accurate it might have been. I think if they had the name, it was pretty much assured the individual had been there, but a negative response was no guarantee of ID'ng a Wannabee.

Jerry, you really do need to go to The Wall in DC. The traveling Wall is no comparison.

I've been there once. It is, quite simply, overwhelming. I ended up on my knees, then sitting on my butt on the sidewalk in front of Will Koehler's name, unable to stand.

The silenced observed by practically everyone there is unreal. People don't talk, they whisper. They quietly control their children. No running. No laughter.

Quiet Respect, as it should be.

That little Chinese girl that designed The Wall was truly Devinely inspired.

I suspect that most, if not all, the surviving parents of the dead are now deceased, so the impact will continue to diminish over time as the comrades, siblings, fiancees, friends and same aged relatives age and die.

I hope its power never really fades into obscurity, but it probably will in another few decades.

I have friends whose names are on that wall. They died with honor.

Jerry, I would love to see that list, of those who were actually there, many claim to have been there and never were. I was there Dec 65-Jan67.

Ken -- I have wished more than once it was still available.

I see you and I overlapped. We landed in Da Nang on 31 August 1965 and I caught my freedom bird on 22 August 1966. EAS 9 September 1966. Extended twice for a total of four years, two months and twelve days active.

I ran into a Marine in the grocery store not too long ago that was there from Dec. '67 - Jan. '69. He laughed and said he tells people he was there three years.
