Well it wasn't Delrin during WWII, maybe composit, but I'm pretty sure it is jigged wooden handles. Mil-specs call for jigged rosewood.

.....t. j., i'm wrong again!!, just scraped a little on the bottom of the handle, and you can see the wood grain! mine has been soaked with oil and dirt so bad, you can't see the grain, maybe i need to clean it up a little better. yours also has the "crowfoot" end on the bail like mine... ....

Hey, glad you did that Tommy Now I know that I was probably remembering correctly. The Mil-Spec calls it "stagged R.W." which I'm assuming is RoseWood. They also listed one as having "stagged bone".

..t.j., i didn't realize this was a military knife???....i thought this was a cotton sampler...didn't know the military used them....was the military designation a rope knife????......

It was called a "Maritime Commission and Merchant Marine Sailor's Knife" or "Sailor's Jack Knife"

Nice looking knife cato, I like it as well. It has some beautiful jigged bone. It has an interesting blade combination, a manicure with a rope blade. I cant imagine why a person using a rope knife would want the secondary blade to be a manicure blade, any idea (maybe WB is right a gentleman sailor)? I don't know much about Camillus patterns but was this a common combination on Camillus rope knives or was it a later re-blade job? It does not have the appearance of being repined.

Ooooooo-weeeeeee Cato. That one is awsome. Goes back to 19-teens with that arched stamp on secondary, probably 1916 or there-abouts Is that a three or four line stamp on the main blade??

Another early WWII Camillus TL-29. Brass frame, liners and pins, rosewood handles and steel bolsters. Bought this one for carrying. Would have been nearly mint if someone had not desided to sharpen and scratch the blades up, especially the screwdriver blade.
