Every once in a while one of the barnowls living on our farm takes the wrong turn on our hayloft and ends up in the old cow barn.

Yes he is! Cool picture.
Deep in the guts of most men is buried the involuntary response to the hunter's horn, a prickle of the nape hairs, an acceleration of the pulse, an atavistic memory of his fathers, who killed first with stone, and then with club...Robert Ruark

Gus -- I hope you don't mind, I took the liberty of fiddling with that picture some.

One of the few ugly babies in the animal kingdom. It's a wonder that bird's mother didn't eat it.

I found this ol bamboo, 3-piece cane pole in my laundry closet and was just about to throw it out when........I said - hey, this feels sturdy and light.....this might make a good walking stick. So, I attached a para cord handle and wham-o!

I don't think so Jerry.........
Holding up a 38 lb rifle and hitting a target over 1/2 a mile away?
For you or me; yes, it would be a lucky 1 in a million shot.
I think that guy is really really good.................................... even if he wasn't a Marine.

That was one helluva a shot for sure, dang!

I noticed Colby Donaldson the host of History's "Top Shot" was standing in the background there, I wonder if they were filming something for the show when he took that shot, perhaps that sniper is going to be on the show in some capacity as an expert insructor or something...anybody else watch Top Shot? Pretty good show if you are into firearms and shooting...

Mike

(((by the way Scott, nice improvised walking stick! I have a favorite that I always take with me on hikes, can't beat a good walking stick, works like a third leg!...or should I say fourth leg... ::facepalm:: )))

I must admit, I saw one of the range instructors in boot camp (Camp Matthews) drill three bulls in the off-hand position from the 500 yd line with an M-14 and it wasn't even his weapon. A recruit told him there was something wrong with his weapon. The range instructor performed his little feat, then told the Private, B.S.

...but a thousand yards with a Barrett from the off-hand position? ::uc::

I did a little camping over the weekend with my brother and nephew. We went to the Red River Gorge in eastern Ky. and stayed at the Koomer Ridge Campground. We did a little sight seeing on Saturday but most of the time was devoted to taking it easy around the campsite. I was the camp cook for the weekend. Here's a few pictures I shot.
