A Love Affair with the Pinch Lock Backs

Former Schrade President Walley Gardner and principal Joe Hufnagel joined with nine master cutlers to form a group of US craftsmen with over 300 years of combined knife making experience to create Canal Street Cutlery. It was first located in upstate New York where a long and rich tradition of quality knife making dates back to the 19th century. Unfortunately, the company closed its doors in 2015, but not before making some great knives. The brand was resurrected in 2018 as Canal Street Cutlery Co-Op & focused on making very small batches of high quality traditional knives. As a Co-Op, it was owned by the knife makers who worked there. Unfortunately, the business model couldn't hold up & the entity again ceased production.

A Love Affair with the Pinch Lock Backs

Post by Chase »

::super_happy::

So, I have finally owned up to the fact that I have a problem.....These dang CSC Pinch Lock Backs are driving me wild. Here are some pictures I have taken, I apologize in advance for the less than perfect picture skills I possess...

This picture depicts (12) different handled Pinch Lockbacks. There are (3) of each depicting a clean bolster, a factory engraved bolster, and a Burt engraved bolster. I am going to try to display these in a custom frame in a wagon wheel type pattern.

I know nothing about these knives other than I like what I see... I think that this knife would be an excellent candidate for sporting a swing guard... Or is that too gimmicky? Or do they make one already?
I hope I didn't kill this topic if so all apologies. ::facepalm::

Reddirtknives- Canal Street has produced some Swing-Guards in the past. I have one that they made for Red Hill Cutlery and I know they did one in a Burnt Stag (Saw it at the Blade Show at another vendor's table.

Contact Michael at www.droppointhunter.com, he may still have some of the Swing Guards!

I feel a little guilty because I think I got poor ole Tom started on those Canal Street knives. He was doing pretty well controling his Schrade addiction ::smirk:: but he's had a total relapse since he took a turn onto Canal Street.

::hmm:: Didn't it start with a Canal Street ring pull at the Blade Show three years ago ?

Fantastic collection my friend. ::tu::
