Cattaraugus

Post by 225Q »

I know this isn't exactly a pocket knife, but I figured you guys might know something about it. A relative left me this knife, a Cattaraugus 225Q(hence the name) and I want to know more about it. I've gone through pretty much all of the internet stuff and can't find anything about it. Do any of you know about it other than it was issued to Marines in WWII and that it served for a while? Thanks for reading and for any help you can give.

Thanks for the information. I found a little bit more information on them but its pretty much the same. It seems that they were purchased in very large numbers by the military, mostly army but one order was for the navy. It also seems that there were too many knives purchased to be used on by quartermasters, as in about 7 million were made if someone's guess is correct. I'll try some more reasearch so that if someone else has one, they can know more about it.

Hey Erik,

I have heard that there is a good article about the 225Q in in the 1998 edition of "Knives".
