What feedback would you leave
What feedback would you leave.
I purchased and paid for some knives of Ebay on the 21-May-2013 and received a message to say they where posted on the 13-June 2013. ( Australian time )
What do you consider a reasonable time to post a item.
What I normally do is when knives are listed on Ebay USA is ask if they would post to Australia First Class Mail and I would wear any loss in the mail ( I have never lost a knife in the mail ).All I ask is that they supply the Customs Number when posted. You can track a item while it still in the USA by the customs number ,also it if proof that a item was sent.
I did not receive a message from the seller explaining why the knives where posted late.
I should have sent a message to ask when they where posted earlier but I have a lot of knives sent by elderly people who take the item to the post office to get prices and post. Than forget to list the item as posted.

I base my expectations on how I handle ebay sales. I ship the next business day after receipt of payment. Therefore I would leave negetive feed back. Twenty-three days is way to long to wait for shipping.

So they were mailed tomorrow AU time, today US time (June 12th). Contact the seller and ask for the reason shipping was delayed. It's not good business practice but there are several reasons I can think of for it to happen (vacation, sickness, family troubles, etc). It's a two way street so be nice (I know you will) but get the whole story before any kind of action. Ask for the number on the customs form when you contact them. It's your right. You can handle the situation in the appropriate manner depending on how it develops.

Some just don't care.
I try to think the best of people but some make it very hard at times.
I have found the one's having medical problems are the first to contact me with any delays.
I have send a message to the seller and waiting to see the answer.
I have had this problem before. Some will send a message saying sorry they will be late with postage other have said they had trouble with their computer but they contacted before using their mobile phone.jerryd6818 wrote:So they were mailed tomorrow AU time, today US time (June 12th). Grant,I'm with Jerry on this one.I know waiting long for a knife to arrive can be a bit of a pain in the......But remember you'll likely catch more flies with honey as with vinegar.Regards Gus.

Re: What feedback would you leave
The only trouble is not the waiting is that Ebays buyer protection runs out before you receive a item. All well with the mail I receive on average a knife in about 15 days .The only trouble is some take 30 to 40 days .So if they don't post for 19 days it can take up to 59 days to arrive. The only way I can extent the time is to go to Ebays resolution center and make a claim. This allows another 21 days for me to proceed with the claim.I don't mind doing this for sellers who send a message telling me why they were late post the knife.
It won't be long before Ebay sends me a message asking if I am having problems.

Re: What feedback would you leave
All extraneous problems aside, why not send a message when the knife was marked as shipped explaining the delay. That is where my problem would arise.
I hope you get the knife in "as described"

Re: What feedback would you leave
This is the message I received when I asked if the seller posted to Australia;
Yes I would ship to Australia. I will figure the postage on the shipping calculator to give you the exact postage so you wont have to worry about paying too much postage. Thank you for your interest.
This is the message I received after I asked way it took so long to post and could they supply the customs number.
Please forgive me for taking so long to respond. I work long hours so rely heavily on being able to mail at the outside 24 hr. box at Post Office. The thing is thats why I dont offer international shipping. It requires going into Post Office during the day during the week. And I know I work alot of hours all week and alot of weekends. When I saw you were International after your purchase I didnt want to be rude and not honor your bid. This being said I am truly sorry If this upset you the customer is king. But I can only be honest about the situation. Your custom no. is LC494421310US.Thank you for your Patience and Business Best Regards.
What , am I missing something here. When the seller send a invoice and I paid within 10 minutes of the auction finishing.

Shearer____just to be ""HONEST"" with you__my thoughts ___you could leave "Negative Feedback" and it really would not matter??__the seller will give a ""Lame Excuse"" and no one will pay the negative much attention ????___you can leave ""Neutral Feedback"" and explain about the ""SLOW SHIPPING & SLOW COMMUNICATION"" and again, no one with bother to pay attention ????____You can leave""Positive Feedback"" with your explanation of ""Slow Shipping & SLOW COMUNICATION"" ??? once again,no one is going to pay much attention ????_____If a seller has an item, that a buyer really, really wants

Monk is right. In the final analysis, feedback on eBay doesn't mean squat. There is another option that hasn't been discussed and I've taken that route a couple of times when I was indecisive about the feedback. Instead of straining your brain, you could leave no feedback at all. You are under no obligation to leave feedback so ignore it. Go on with life, be happy and don't let a petty thing like this ruin your day.

Re: What feedback would you leave
I've shipped motorcycle parts to Australia & Japan more than once and never had delays items always arrived in 10 days or less and some were heavy packages like gas tanks--trannies-smallest was a gas gauge nothing ever was held at customs or lost--I think it's the way people box the item that sends up the flag or something--far as someone not shipping in less than a week I just ignore giving them any feedback

Re: What feedback would you leave
Shearer,
I would leave negative feedback because 19 days to ship an item that has been paid for is way to long.
I would mention in my comments, the reason for the negative feedback (19 days to ship after payment).
I believe that the eBay feedback system dosn't work because people don't leave negitive feedback and explain the reason for the feedback when this type of thing happens.
Just my opinion
