Mushrooms?? Toadstools??

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

Mushrooms?? Toadstools??

Post by tjmurphy »

Hey all you outdoorsmen, what have I got here?? They just seemed to pop up. I know they're probably not edible, and wouldn't eat them anyway, but what are they?

I'm fixin' to out and dig 'em up and throw them in the trash before my dog gets to 'em.

I got them up and tied up in a plastic bag and in the garbage. All the little stems originate from one larger one ::shrug:: A few years back we had puff-balls popping up in the yard, understand that those are edible if you get them before the go to spore, which means very quickly.

Toadstool is just another name for a mushroom. Both names go back centuries.

Edit: However the toadstool is often used in relation to the poison varieties.

tj, if you find any of these they're safe to eat (as long as you cook them) and quite tasty. ::nod:: There's a quarter for scale.
