To turn off your PC completely, try this.

Close any desktop apps you have open—this will prompt you to save your work.

Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Settings.)

Tap or click Power, and then tap or click Shut down.

Got Ms. Joy a new laptop for Christmas last year. It has Windows 8 and she says it is a nightmare! Even had one our acquaintances who is the computer guru for a local power company say he hasn't figured it all out yet but at least he knew how to root through all the mess and get hers to talk to a wireless printer, I think . We used to have to wait for one of the children to come home so they could get us out of the ditch with the computer .

Did I mention that most of the new laptops no longer have the scroll function on the touch pad, so my new one does not have it The guy told me that it was incompatible with Win 8 for the most part mainly because Win 8 is for touchscreen applications more so than anything else and everything is moving that way eventually

My old PC died in June. I bought a new one, HP super duper, ultra fast, yadda, yadda, etc.
It has Windows 8.

In the 13 years I had my old PC it crashed 4 or 5 times. Windows 8 has crashed more in 6 weeks than XP did in 13 years.

I now have purchased an old rehabbed PC with XP and I will install my old copy of Office 2000. I hope to have it running this week!

Oh yes, MS Office....... now you only get to rent it for a year ($100) and then it stops working until you pay again. You don't own the software!

I really believe my next new PC will be a Mac!
