Imperial Fishing Knife

Post by wildcat »

I got this knife a few years ago at a gun show for $5 with the intention of putting on new covers. I finally got around to it. I like this knife pattern and it is carbon steel! ::tu:: Most fishing knives are stainless. ::td:: The covers on this knife originally are a pressed on hollow metal form. The "jigged bone" is just a plastic heat shrink tubing basically. It had to go. It's sad to see these old manufactures die off. This is a fine example of a good, cheap USA made knife. There only seem to be a few manufacturers that employ sunken joints like this.

Thanks yall! The wood is called lacewood.

How long does a job like this take yall that have been doing this for a while? This knife took me prolly 4-5 hours. But that includes moving the sprinkler around the yard a few times and cutting out two sets of covers. The first set that i was gonna use cracked on the first peen ::dang::

Hey, we got us another genuine knife mechanic on AAPK. When are you going to hang out your shingle and start taking orders for rehandles? Good job there Wildcat.

Im thinking on it pretty hard. I was let go from my job this week. Kids start back to school next week so it would be nice to do something that would allow me to be home when the kids are. If you have a knife that needs fixin, let me know! :)
