Nice knives there too. Can you or anyone tell me if the old timer folders came with different scales than the ones in the pictures?

Re: Three Schrades
The standard Old Timer material was "brown sawcut Delrin." But there were many other handle materials as well. You might find all sorts of handle materials and different Delrin colors used for SFOs, limited editions, anniversary knives, or factory errors.Rich wrote:Nice knives there too. Some specific examples from my collection:
Old Timers were used as annual FFA knives at least three times. These have blue delrin.
The New Holland tractor knife has black delrin.
The 1980s anniversary set has smooth red bone.
Some models were made with green delrin.
The Grand Dads Old Timer set is black delrin.
The Old Timer Classics set is jigged red bone.
Many factory error or end-of-days Old Timers were sent out with plasti-stag (aka Staglon) handles.
The original 2OT is smooth red bone.
The early Ulster camp Old Timer was jigged dark delrin.
The silver anniversary Old Timers were smooth red-brown bone.
Some "Heritage" Schrade knives were made as Old Timers; mine is smooth red bone, and I've also seen green.
I also have oddball examples in orange delrin, yellow delrin, wood, and micarta.

My only 2OT is a used example, not really worthy of a picture.MrBlister wrote: Bob .. . I dont see (in yer post) a 2OT like mine..

I do know however that there was a similar Schrade model sold as a Craftsman knife. So is yours a mix-up knife? From a run of knives made purposefully with both Old Timer and Craftsman emblems?
I don't see any evidence that it's a fake or repair knife.
I think you'd have to ask the Schrade rep who sold knives to Craftsman in 1958 to find the answer.

I have many more examples of non-standard handles, but am woefully behind in photographing the collection.Shearer wrote:Thanks Bob W. for posting the pictures my wife left for a week to help to look after a new grandchild and took the camera.

Re: Three Schrades
Mr Blister your knife is one made for Craftsman. The ony differents to the 2OT Old Timer is yours has a shield on the side and to my knowlege less of them where made.
Some of the 2OT had red bone handle and some the same color as yours.I do not have a Craftsman in my collection.

Re: Three Schrades
A few more to list after making a trip into the Old Timer vault...
Here's a green 36OT with brass bolsters instead of the standard nickel-silver. Never seen another one like it.

The 75th Anniversary knife for the National Park Service is a 5OT with wood handle.
The Pennsylvania Game and Boat Commission did a 5OT in green delrin.
For no obvious reason, there were 158OT and 194OT knives done in orange delrin.
Some hunting club (the shield is too small to read) did a 94OT in smooth brown bone.
I just received a 6-OT in solid black delrin, and again, no obvious reason for it.
Bet you've never seen one like this:

I have one,now we know of two.Has yours got a serial number.Mine is 8402. I think they could have been Ducks Unlimited and they did a few with Old Timer Shields.

Re: Three Schrades
I would not worry about the serial number .Who knows what they did at Imperial - Schrade ,they did not keep very good records. I have a green handle Imperial Trapper made in Ireland with a Old Timer shield.Bob W. wrote:No, mine does not have a serial number.
